Where is the New Zealand Blackcurrant Co-operative?

The New Zealand Blackcurrant Co-operative, which is involved in the production and management of New Zealand Cassis, is located in Nelson on the northern tip of the South Island of New Zealand.

Where are New Zealand Cassis grown?

The main growing area for New Zealand Cassis is the Canterbury region on the South Island of New Zealand. This region grows its New Zealand Cassis on a vast fertile plain. From Ashburton in the South to Omihi in the North, the growing area runs from the mountains to the sea. The sea breeze from the Pacific Ocean sweeps in while the Southern Alps to the west serve to significantly lower temperatures at night in the winter, producing perfect growing conditions for Cassis.  In addition to the clean fresh winds, the pure clean water in the rivers running from the Southern Alps is used to irrigate the Cassis.  And when you add to the best water and air in the world the amazing amount of bright sunshine that bathes the Cassis crop, then you have the perfect conditions to grow the best Cassis in the world – truly The King of the Berries.
